According to the report of the Punjab Health Department, diphtheria started spreading among children aged one to 14 years in various cities of Punjab including Lahore, 9 deaths have occurred in 20 days while 121 cases have been reported.
The report states that cases of diphtheria are reported from December to February.
The National Institutes of Health says that coughs and sneezes can also spread diphtheria, diphtheria tests are done by bacterial culture or PCR.
